Our Background:
DRISTI is a private, non-political and non-communal social welfare organization founded in the year of 1993, to serve the poor, especially the underprivileged and disadvantaged women. The aim of the organization is to establish respect and empowerment of women in society by providing assistance to the landless women who acknowledge various social, economic, and cultural injustices in the society and family level. From the very beginning of the organization, DRISTI wishing a society without discrimination and injustice where everyone will enjoy equal rights especially women will live in a society with dignity and respect. DRISTI has a very good working relationship with various national and international development agencies/ organizations. DRISTI with its own financing and supports from the donor agencies & government departments, have been implemented various projects in agriculture, health, education, shelters, cultural issues through skills development, micro-credit and income generating activities, mother and child health care, family planning and reproductive health care, prevention of HIV and STI/violence against women, establishment of child rights and various social and cultural developments. By implementing various developmental activities. Cumilla has long been able to continue its multi-faceted service to its target population. In the future, the vision will be more active in maintaining its reputation and achieving its goals. Establishment of the rights of working children and implementing various projects for various social and cultural development. For continued qualitative & quotative service delivery to the targeted population, DRISTI has been able to establish and sustain a good reputation in Comilla. In the future too, DRISTI will also be more careful to keep the reputation and achieving the goal.
From the beginning, DRISTI seeks to meet people's needs through its micro-credit and IGA programs, providing health support to mothers and children. DRISTI has played a leading role in preventing HIV/AIDS and STIs in Cumilla science 2002. DRISTI also worked jointly with the g Upazila Health and Family Planning Department to prevent HIV/AIDS and STIs for returning/potential migrants at Burichang, promote family planning services to the project beneficiaries with a view to prevent TB-HIV co-infection with support of BRAC and DPH and provided VCT services and public awareness to at-risk populations. In addition to the above, DRIST has been implemented adolescent development programs in the slums and villages under Cumilla City Corporation & villages under different Upazila at Cumilla district. Through the "WE CAN" campaign, DRISTI has won the praise of all the mahals by playing a leading role in developing women's leadership, preventing domestic violence and violence against women. In Comilla, DRISTI has set up 05 (five) Family Abuse Prevention Alliances and 40,000 (forty thousand) Changemakers, who play an active role in their society for "WE CAN" campaign and self-defense to prevent domestic violence and violence against women.
At present, prevention of violence against women, gender equality, gender justice, empowerment of women, protection of women and child rights as well as overall welfare of children engaged in hazardous works i.e. withdrawal of children from hazardous jobs, enrolled in formal or non-formal education and replacement in non-hazardous works through skill development & child-friendly activities. In addition, DRISTI works water & sanitation and skill development training programs for the socio-economic development of the project participants and accordingly arrange supply of income-earning materials. DRISTI playing a leading role in Comilla with various government and non-governmental organizations celebrating various national and international days. Along the continuous success and limitations, of course DRISTI will expand its programs and services in the future. DRISTI is enriched today with the support of its development partners, especially donors, supporters, volunteers, advisors, friends and hardworking staff. We know, development is a continuous process and DRISTI as a development practitioner will continue this.
